The Teacher’s Guide is a complete skill-building package for every issue with easy-to-follow Lesson Plans to extend students’ learning. There is a hard copy of the Teacher’s Guide included with every monthly bundle, but you also can access the Teacher’s Guide online!

On the first page of the Teacher’s Guide, you’ll find a letter from our editor with important news and useful tips about your subscription.

The following pages include instructions for extension activities.

Each issue has a Lesson Plan, which offers a step-by-step guide for teaching the issue. Reading objectives, Common Core Standards, and academic focus areas are provided.

It’s up to you! The Teacher’s Guide is flexible. Use all the activities, or pick and choose based on what skills you want to teach. However you use it, the Teacher’s Guide helps to seamlessly integrate SN1 into your classroom and engage all learners.

Absolutely! When you’re on the issue page, click “Lesson Plan” from the Resources list on the right side of the page. It will bring you to that issue’s specific Lesson Plan.

Once you choose the issue you are going to teach, click “Activity” under Extend the Lesson in the middle of the page. You’ll find a colorful print-friendly pdf with step-by-step instructions for the Hands-On Activity.
