- Have students do a picture walk through the issue, then read and discuss the cover. Ask students what they know about animals in fire stations. What do they do there?
- Then, before turning to page 2, say, “As we read the article, think about the different jobs Penny does.”
- As you read, pause after each box. Check comprehension by discussing what Penny does at the fire station or when she visits schools.
- Complete the page 4 activity as a group or individually.
